Shri Krishna Jayanthi was celebrated extensively across the state under the leadership of Balagokulam. A total of 10,000 Shobhayatras (processions) were held across urban and rural areas.
Little Krishnas adorned with crowns and peacock feathers, and young girls dressed as Gopikas, became the main attraction of the processions.
Held under the slogan “Wake up from Maya, grow up as Manava”, the events saw the participation of over 500,000 children, including nearly 200,000 dressed as Shri Krishna.
Chants of Krishna’s name, bhajans, the sound of flutes, and traditional percussion rhythms filled the celebrations with deep devotion.
The main Shobhayatra of Kochi city, which commenced from the Ernakulam Town Hall, was inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Member Balli Kalyan Chakravarthy by garlanding the idol of Shri Krishna with a Tulasi Mala. Senior RSS Pracharak P.R. Sasidharan delivered the message.
Kochi Mayor V.K. Minimol handed over the Gokulam flag. Congress MLA Mohammed Shiyas and Corporation Standing Committee Chairman Manaf participated in the procession. Balagokulam guide M.A. Krishnan also attended the ceremony.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the Maha Shobhayatra was inaugurated by Sree Ramadasa Mission President Shakthi Shantananda Maharshi Ji by garlanding the Krishna idol at Chenkottukonam. Prof. P.S. Rajan presided over the function. Balagokulam State President K.N. Sajikumar delivered the Srikrishna Jayanthi message.
Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh, participating as the distinguished guest, handed over the Gokulam flag. MLA V. Muraleedharan, Regatta Natya Sangeetha Vidyalaya teacher Girija Chandran, Reception Committee Chairman Liju V. Nair, and General Convener Vazhayila Unni were among those who spoke.
Sub-processions from various parts of the city converged in front of the Palayam Mahaganapathy Temple, from where they proceeded as a grand Maha Shobhayatra and concluded at Kizhakkakotta.
