As severe floods continue to inundate villages and homes across Upper Assam, thousands of families in Sivasagar and Jorhat are facing acute shortages of food, safe drinking water, shelter and medical support. In this hour of crisis, RSS Swayamsevaks and Seva Bharati Karyakartas have emerged as a strong pillar of hope and service.
In the flood-hit areas of Betbari (Kakati Gaon, D-Gaon, No. 2 Kunwar Gaon and Chetia Kaivarta Gaon), Karyakartas carried out a major rescue operation and safely shifted more than 200 people to relief camps and secure locations.
Relief Work is also continuing in the remote areas of Sundar Pukhuri, Bamun Pukhuri, Geleki and Rajabari in Sivasagar district, where swayamsevaks are reaching stranded families with cooked food, clean drinking water, medicines, clothing and other essential supplies.
In Jorhat district, relief materials have been distributed in Alengmora, Katiram Chuk, Kulai Chuk, Nalia Chuk, Senchowa Chuk and Charigharia Chuk, including tarpaulins, biscuits, candles, mosquito coils, soap, alum and other daily necessities.
Using small boats, Swayamsevaks are delivering food and water directly to submerged homes and helping shift elderly persons, women, children and the sick to safer places. Their tireless efforts are proving why the RSS is often described as “Ready for Selfless Service”.
This is not merely disaster relief; it is the living spirit of “Nar Seva Hi Narayan Seva”. In the midst of floodwaters and suffering, these swayamsevaks are bringing hope, relief and humanity to countless families across Upper Assam.
